Female and Male Reproductive Anatomy

Study this Power Point Presentation
Formative Assessment:
Explain the function of the following parts of the female reproductive system: Ovary, fallopian tube, uterus.
The ovary produce oval (eggs), which travel through the fallopian tubes, where they they can be fertilized. The uterus provides an environment for a fertilized egg to develop.

Explain the function of the following parts of the male reproductive system: Testes, scrotum, edidymis, vas deferents
The scrotum is a sac that helps keep testes cool. The testes produce sperm, which mature and are stored in the epididymis. The vas deferens is a duct that conveys semen to the urethra.

Compare: In what ways are the effects of testosterone on males ans estroghe on females similar?
Both cause the development of sexual characteristics and are involved in the production of reproductive cells.

Infer: Both males and females have paired organs that produce sex cells. What survival advantage for our species might this pairing of organs provide?
If one is damaged or destroyed, the other can still produce sex cells to enable species survival.

Flowering plants reproduce sexually. The stamen produce pollen grains, and the carpel contains an ovary where eggs are produced. How do these structures compare with human reproductive organs?

Stamen compares to testes because it produces male sex cells; the ovary and eggs compare to the same structures in females.

What does luteinizing hormone mean?
womb:a place where something is generated
